About this Attraction

The Minor Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was built in 1954 when the Order of the Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel, also known as the Carmelites, moved their seat from Iloilo to Quezon City. The present structure was completed in 1972. It was named a Basilica in 2013, and has since become the site of pilgrimage for those devoted to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The church is the site of the annual Diocesan Flores de Mayo honoring the Virgin Mother of God in May. Aside from Sunday masses, the church also features Carmelite spirituality, such as the Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel every Wednesday.

In the Spotlight: The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated yearly on July 16.
