Designed in the neoclassical style with allegorical figures, cherubs, and symbols of abundance, the Carriedo Fountain is a beautiful relic of colonial philanthropy carried by the Don Francisco Carriedo y Peredo, a Spanish naval officer and benefactor of Manila's pipe water system who left 10,000 pesos in his will with a single stipulation: the money has to be used to build a clean water system for the people of Manila.
