Built by the common people of Balintawak, this marker is a testament to the enduring legacy of Andres Bonifacio and the Katipunan spirit as the community refused to let the memory of the hero be forgotten after the first memorial was unceremoniously displaced by infrastructure development.
The 13.7 meter monument of Bonifacio with a sword in one hand and a flag in the other watches over the convergence of roads whose very names encode the revolution: Katipunan Avenue, Samson, Seminary, and Pasong Tamo road. Now a cornerstone of Quezon City’s Katipunan Freedom Trail, it is a proof that revolution lives on in every generation that chooses to remember.
